Production and trade data for sunflower seed and oil are shown in Table 2. Over the period 2011/12 to 2016/17 worldide production of sunflower seed has shown only modest increases and exports have remained static. Major producers include Russia, the Ukraine and the EU7 nations accounting for over 73% of world production.
